I'm not getting e-mail updates about the race what do i do? Will there be awards given out to the race winners?
Some times our e-mail updates get lost in your junk or spam filters so if you are not getting our race day updates please check your spam filter or junk box. Also go to active and make sure they have your most recent working e-mail address.
If I am not running can I participate by being a volunteer?
YES...Volunteers are greatly appreciated and needed! Give us a call at 805-258-3779 or e-mail us at bill@elitesportsvc.com. Please visit the Volunteer Info link on this site to get all the information needed on being a volunteer. The Pre-Race meeting date is usually a week before the race and will be for course review and task assignments.
Will there be port-o-potties along the course?
YES...bathrooms are located near the transition area.
YES... Yes we will have some cool swag for the top three overall finishers in each race. And some other cool swag for everyone else at the post race bib number call out. I randomly call out bib numbers and if you are still there you get what ever i am handing out at that time.
Is there a refund policy for this race?
Sorry but no...there are no refunds! But you can defer your entry to another one of our races in the future. Checkout our other events at www.EliteSportsVC.com for other races you might want to transfer to. If you choose a race with a higher entry fee, you will be required to pay the difference. When you choose another race you would like to do just email us and we will get you set for that race.
Can I register for the race at the packet pick-up location?
YES...You can register for the race at the package pick-up, Packet pickup is at Camarillo Bike Co. in Camarillo see front page for address details
Can I pick up my race packet on race day??
YES...you can pick up your race packet on race day at the expo area, Last minute check in on race day begins at 6:30a.m. and ends at 7:30 a.m. These new races are still fairly small and will be timed without chips until we reach a 200 athlete count on race day. Chip timing is usually thousands of dollars and we don't have the budget right now for that.
Can I pick up someone else's race items if they can not make it out to package pickup?
YES...you can pick up a friend or relatives items. You must have a written note and signed by them in order to pick up their package (insurance reasons) we will keep that note for our records. Please make sure to have their information and shirt size with you in case there are any confusion.
Where do the race numbers go?
You have three types of numbers: 1) large bib number for the front of your shirt as you run, 2) a card stock bike number that goes on your top tube of your bike, 3) a small number for the FRONT of your helmet. Please make sure that your bib number is in the front of you as you cross the transition and or finish line so that we can make sure we accurately document your times.
Is this a Draft legal race?
NO- this is a non drafting race, please give yourself correct distance from each rider so that you are not drafting during the bike. See USAT rules regarding drafting and correct distance you should ride from each athlete.
Will I be credited time if I have to stop for the train?
Yes- in the unlikely event that an Amtrak train passes in front of you on the one crossing on the course you must report it to the Race Director and we will credit you the appropriate amount of time ( honor system ).
Will the course be marked well?
Yes- The Bike Course- we have been made aware that the intersection at Caweltie / Las Posas ( Left Turn at approx mile 1.5) is easy to miss, sooo we have now set up a 6 foot banner with a large left turn arrow AND a bright red 16 foot feather flag that will alert all riders to TURN LEFT at that intersection. All remaining directional arrows are painted on the ground in white. Please remember that the Long course is two loops of the Caweltie,Lewis, Las Posas portion.
Is this an open or a closed course?
this course is an open course and what that means is that you must obey all traffic laws and ride in the bike lane or shoulder. we will have all the signals on flashing red for you to continue through without stopping but please be mindful of any wayward cars. All turns will be marked by cones and directional signs as required by County traffic plan.
Is the run on dirt or paved road?
both, you will run about 1/2 mile on a dirt road and the rest is paved.
Do I need a super duper race bike?
No- use what ever bike you want to as long as its safe to use. All bikes must have handle bar ends for your safety. NO tricycles or training wheels allowed.
Do i need to have a Helmet?
YES- no helmet no race! All helmets must be in good / safe race condition, no duct tape. See USAT racing rules.
